The City of Charlotte's Storm Water Services has been recognized nationally for its ongoing, comprehensive stormwater program and leadership in stormwater management issues, green infrastructure initiatives and reducing stormwater pollution of streams and lakes.

In September 2015, the City received the "Overall Highest Score" in the national Municipal Stormwater and Green Infrastructure Awards Program, held by the Water Environment Federation, in cooperation with the US Environmental Protection Agency, at its 88th Technical Conference in Chicago.  The awards program recognizes high-performing regulated municipal stormwater programs and inspires them to be innovative and cost-effective.  Charlotte received the highest combined score in both Innovation and Program Management categories.
