Don't Let Cleaning Products Hurt Our Environment

All of the storm drains in Charlotte-Mecklenburg flow directly to our lakes and streams. Soaps and cleaners dumped into storm drains pollute our surface waters.

One gallon of liquid soap will pollute 200,000 gallons of water.

Dump buckets of dirty water down a sink drain or into a toilet—so the wastewater goes to a treatment plant, not to our creeks.  Also keep soapy water out of storm drains when you wash your car.

Remember, only rain goes down the storm drain!
