Storm Water Fees

(Effective July 1, 2013)


City of Charlotte:

  • Tier I Residential: $6.98 per month
  • Tier II Residential: $9.94 per month
  • Tier III Residential: $10.47 per month
  • Tier IV Residential: $11.70 per month
  • Commercial: $152.41 per month per acre of impervious surface

(Figures above are based on a billing cycle of 30 days. The actual monthly fee will vary depending on the number of days in the billing cycle.)


Cornelius, Huntersville, Matthews, Mint Hill and Pineville:

  • Tier I Residential: $3.04 per month
  • Tier II Residential: $4.17 per month
  • Tier III Residential: $4.70 per month
  • Tier IV Residential: $5.93 per month
  • Commercial: $56.19 per month per acre of impervious surface

(Figures above are based on a billing cycle of 30 days. The actual monthly fee will vary depending on the number of days in the billing cycle.)


Davidson:

  • Tier I Residential: $12.49 (billed twice a year)
  • Tier II Residential: $18.49 (billed twice a year)
  • Tier III Residential: $26.05 (billed twice a year)
  • Tier IV Residential: $47.89 (billed twice a year)
  • Commercial: $49.85 per month per acre of impervious surface


Unincorporated Mecklenburg County:

  • Tier I Residential: $2.79 per month
  • Tier II Residential: $3.79 per month
  • Tier III Residential: $5.05 per month
  • Tier IV Residential: $8.69 per month
  • Commercial: $49.85 per month per acre of impervious surface

All fees shown above include countywide Major System fee, the municipality's Minor System fee and the Administrative billing cost.


Tier sizes (single-family residential):

  • Tier I: 0 to 1,999 square feet of impervious surface
  • Tier II: 2,000 to 2,999 square feet of impervious surface
  • Tier III: 3,000 to 4,999 square feet of impervious surface
  • Tier IV: 5,000 or more square feet of impervious surface

Residential Storm Water rates apply to:

  • homes that are zoned, designed and built as a residence for one family, are on a single parcel of land, and are completely detached from other residential or commercial structures.

Commercial Storm Water rates apply to:

  • duplexes, triplexes, apartments or other multi-family homes
  • any structure for which a business license is on file for that address
  • businesses or commercial enterprises
  • public buildings.

  • Go to the GeoPortal interactive map
  • Type the property address in the box and click Go
  • Under "What do you want to know," select "impervious surface".
