Any vehicle seating nine or fewer passengers and driver operated for hire is classified as a Taxicab.

Every taxicab that receives a medallion from the CMPD Taxicab Inspector is required to obtain a local taxicab license. A local business license is required for each car. Licenses are fifteen dollars ($15.00) each year which covers the calendar year.

Important license information:

Taxicab renewals are due January 1^st of each year.
Taxicab companies are responsible for the taxicab license if delinquent after January 31^st.
Taxicab companies are responsible for the motor vehicle tax of thirty dollars ($30.00), which is due by February of each year.
Taxicab licenses are not transferable.
If you obtain a new taxicab number from your taxicab company you must obtain a new license.
Taxicab companies must submit an inventory sheet during the month of November providing the necessary information for each taxicab that will operate as of January 1st.

PLEASE NOTE - Closing, Transferring or Selling Business: The Business Tax Collections unit must be notified forty-eight (48) hours in advance of a change in address, or ownership, or if business operations cease.
