Robert Caldwell Bradford Park provides a major recreation and sports facility for Huntersville, Davidson, Cornelius and rapidly growing suburbs of northern Mecklenburg County. The park covers 170 acres. Bradford Park represents a unique partnership among Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation and the Parks and Recreation Departments of the Huntersville and Davidson. Mecklenburg County contributed $4.2 million toward land acquisition and construction of Phase I of the park. Huntersville contributed more than a million dollars. Huntersville manages this park, in collaboration with Davidson, under a long term lease with Mecklenburg County. Future phases will be built when funds are available

The park is named for Robert Caldwell Bradford (known as Caldwell), lifetime resident of Huntersville, whose family lived on this land for more than a century. The Bradfords were dairy farmers who ran Hiwassee and Hunter Dairies. Mecklenburg County purchased the land for recreational use.
