Things To Do At Tom Sykes 

 

 Summer Camps -  all camps run 9a-5p Monday - Friday and cost $80 per child.  Registration starts February 1st and spots go quickly.

Each week campers are asked to bring a lunch and a morning snack, we will provide an afternoon snack for participants. Campers should wear tennis shoes or closed toed shoes, we will be outside and the activities planned work best with tennis shoes. We will send out the camper information packet the week before camp and ask that it be brought in the first day of camp.

 

Inventive Builders: (AGES 9-13)  Your creative builder will have a chance to test their best building techniques. We will work on LEGO projects and use our imaginations to build out own projects. Campers will learn hands on techniques that will allow them to become creative thinkers, problem solvers and effectively work in organized teams.

4-H Motorsports: (AGES 9-12) Participants in the camp will experience the life od a pit crew as they design, update and race radio controlled cars. Using specific math, engineering and technology skills, the campers will solve real-life racing problems.

4-H Motorsports 2- Quest for Speed: (AGES 8-12) Participants will work on building different cars and vehicles to explore different propulsion systems.  Campers will use different math and engineering principals to solve real life problems.

 July 7-11  (#53473)    July 28- August 1 (#53474)

 

 

Participation in programs requires pre-registration unless noted in the description. You can register by calling or stopping into your local center, calling 311 or using the eParks system. For more information about each of the programs contact Joel Kent.



Preschool Programs

Music Together of Charlotte- Music Together is children and their grownups joyfully sharing songs, rhymes, movement, and instrument play, both in music class and in their daily lives. 

NC Dance Theatre School of Dance
Creative Movement -
Introduces age-appropriate stretching, basic strengthening, balance, motor skill development and coordination while exploring musicality, rhythm, creativity and movement. 


Character Parties - Join us as we visit with some of our favorite Characters. As preschoolers develop their socialization skills they will also enjoy fun and creative character themed activities. Parents are required to stay with for the programs. Pre-registration is required for the program. Children will have a light dinner during the program.

Cost: $6 per class 

Time: 5:30-6:30pm

Youth and Teen Programs

Youth Athletics: Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation offers a wide variety of athletic programs to youth participants throughout the year. All youth athletics programs are Recreation Center based and take place at various parks and recreation centers throughout Mecklenburg County.  For more information on Youth Athletics and information on how to register please visit the Youth Athletics Page.

Play the Day Away - Schools out and all we want to do is play. We will enjoy arts and crafts, games, adventures and more.
