Public Fingerprinting Services
The Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office offers non-criminal fingerprinting as a service to the citizens of Charlotte-Mecklenburg.

The fingerprinting service is available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.  FingerprintingCost is $10, payable in the form of cash or money order. You will be asked to fill out a fingerprint card (FD-258) which will be provided by the Sheriff's Office. If you are obtaining fingerprints for a North Carolina state licensed childcare facility please make sure you receive the Electronic Submission form from the agency you are getting fingerprinted for. If you do not have these forms we cannot fingerprint you.

Anyone wishing to use the service should come to the Permits Bureau Office which is located at 715 E. Fourth St., Suite 200. The building is on the same side of the street as the jail and Arrest Processing facility, across the street from the current Criminal Courthouse and behind the historic Mecklenburg County Courthouse.  The offices are slightly below street level.  Parking is available at the McDowell Street parking deck located at the corner of McDowell and 4th Street or at the Davidson Street deck located at the corner of Davidson and 3rd Street.
