Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs), also called Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs), are diseases that are transmitted through sexual or intimate contact. Some of the most common reported STDs include Chlamydia, Gonorrhea and Syphilis. While extremely common, STDs are difficult to track. Many people with these infections do not have symptoms and remain undiagnosed. Even diseases that are diagnosed are frequently not reported and counted.
