In April 2012, the Mecklenburg County's Effective and Efficient Government Focus Area Leadership Team approved the 2012 Mecklenburg County's Diversity Management and Accomplishment document.
The Diversity Council, a cross-section of Mecklenburg County employees, revised the 2006 Diversity Management Plan over several months.
The revised document is intended to improve the County's performance in achieving the Board of County Commissioner's (BOCC) objective of becoming a "model diverse organization."
Essentially, diversity management focuses on strategies, tactics and measures for effectively managing a diverse workforce to serve a diverse community.
