The Business Support Services Agency (BSSA) consolidates key County internal support functions: Asset and Facility Management, Business and Financial Management, Business Improvement Services, Geospatial Information Services, Information Technology, and Procurement. The shared services model was implemented in 2011 to capitalize on opportunities to improve and/or expand internal support services essential to County government.
Asset and Facility Management (BSSA-AFM) provides master planning, space planning, architectural design and construction administration services for the development of general government, detention, and Park & Recreation facilities. BSSA-AFM is responsible for Mecklenburg County's property inventory through the acquisition and disposition of real property. BSSA-AFM manages the maintenance of all County owned buildings with the exclusion of Park properties.
Design work is achieved primarily through out-sourcing to private sector architectural - engineering consultants. Bid opportunities are posted as they occur.
Information Technology (BSSA-IT) provides technology services to all County departments to support their business operations and service delivery to the public. Services are also provided to other governmental agencies and users that prove beneficial to the County and its residents.
Business Improvement Services (BSSA-BIS) is an essential strategic business partner and major asset to Mecklenburg County agencies/departments that value and pursue improvement opportunities for their organization and across the enterprise. The BIS Mission is to discover and provide effective solutions for customers that optimize operational efficiencies and overall service quality.
Business and Financial Management (BSSA-BFM) provides Administrative, Fiscal, and performance management services to BSSA, HR, and PI. BFM provides courier, fleet, and IT purchasing services to all Mecklenburg County Departments.
Geospatial Information Systems (BSSA-GIS) is a team of highly motivated and knowledgeable IT professionals committed to delivering state-of-the-art Geospatial Information System (GIS) technology solutions and mapping services.
Procurement provides acquisition of commodities and services for Mecklenburg County and will set forth the basic organizational concepts for establishing procurement policy and conducting procurement operations.
