DRAFT - Midtown Morehead Cherry Area Plan
Based on comments received to
date, the following revisions to the draft document proposed:
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Planning Committee received public comments on
Tuesday October 18, 2011. continuing over several months as work on additional
revisions proceeded. On January 17, 2012, the Committee recommended approval
of the Draft Plan with the Proposed Revisions.
As a part of the official plan adoption process, Charlotte City Council will
receive public comment on the Draft Midtown Morehead Cherry Area Plan:

An area plan is a policy document that provides the framework for future
growth and development and serves as guidance for elected officials when
making land use decisions. This plan recommends changes in the future use of
property located within the plan area.
September 15, 2011 Public Meeting: Held to present the Draft plan
document and receive public comments
Comments from the public meeting will be used for further plan revisions. The plan then will go to the Planning Committee of the Charlotte Mecklenburg Planning Commission for further public comments and a committee recommendation. It then will go to City Council for public comments and their consideration.
The City of Charlotte is developing a land use plan for the Midtown Morehead Cherry area (refer to boundary map) which will serve as a policy guide for future growth and development. The plan includes three adjoining neighborhoods just outside of Uptown and I-277.
The purpose if the Citizen Advisory Group (CAG) is to help shape the area plan’s goals, objectives, and recommendations. Membership in this group was solicited at the Public Kickoff.in November 2010. The CAG has met nine times over a period of seven months, discussing major issues and reviewing policy proposals at each step. Meetings were held at 6 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, 517 Baldwin Avenue (corner of Baxter Street).
