Join Us for the March 9, 2012 Interfaith Summit

Mayor Anthony Foxx and the Charlotte Mecklenburg Coalition for Housing are hosting an Interfaith Summit on affordable housing and homelessness on Friday, March 9, 2012 from 8:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Rev. Floyd Flake, Senior Pastor at The Greater Allen A.M.E. Cathedral of New York will be the keynote speaker. The summit will also include an opportunity to view the Souls of our Neighbors documentary, a Can We Talk dialogue facilitated by the City of Charlotte Community Relations Committee, Mecklenburg Ministries and Community Building Initiative and will showcase agencies in the Homeless Services Network. This summit is designed to further engage faith communities in the effort to end and prevent homelessness.

Supportive Housing Development Funding Now Available
The City of Charlotte, Mecklenburg County and the Charlotte Housing Authority are now jointly accepting proposals from developers for Supportive Housing Developments.  Supportive Housing Developments are comprised of  affordable housing with comprehensive supportive services, which includes new construction, rehabilitation and acquisition/rehabilitation. The intent of the joint Request for Proposal is to provide a collaborative and streamlined application and review process among the City, County and Housing Authority.

Souls of Our Neighbors
When you hear "Affordable Housing", what do you think? "Souls of Our Neighbors" is an effort to increase public support for affordable housing in Charlotte-Mecklenburg that is centered on a documentary film of the same name produced by Crossroads Charlotte, Mecklenburg Ministries and Temple Beth El.
