Boarded Up Residential Structures
Boarded Up Residential Structure ImageOn July 23, 2007, Charlotte City Council approved a new ordinance (Chapter 5 "Buildings and Building Regulations") requiring the registration of all residential boarded up structures.  The Boarded Up Residential Structure Ordinance requires registration of existing boarded up structures within six months from the adoption of the new ordinance. After January 23, 2008, all boarded up structures must be registered within 48 hours of boarding.  Failure to register any boarded up residential structure may result in the issuance of civil penalties (500.00 for the first day and 50.00 for every proceeding day until brought into compliance).   View current listing of registered Boarded Up Residential Structures

Boarded up structures can be registered with the online form or by completing the Boarded Up Structure Registration form (PDF).  The completed form should be mailed to:  City of Charlotte, Neighborhood & Business Services, Code Enforcement, 600 E. Trade Street, Charlotte, NC 28202.
