Back Creek Church Road Farm-To-Market Project

This project will make improvements to Back Creek Church Road to better serve motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians.

What's happened? The consultant, PB Americas, Inc. is preparing the right of way plans.

What's next? A public meeting will be held in summer 2013.  The project team will be available to answer questions from residents and property owners.

A 2008 Transportation Bond Project

The goal of this project is to make improvements to Back Creek Church Road from NC Hwy 49 to Rocky River Road that will better serve the community and all roadway users including residents, businesses, motorists, pedestrians, bicyclists, transit users and commuters.  Public input will be an integral part of this process. 

Recommended features may include:
  • bicycle lanes
  • sidewalks
  • curb and gutter
  • turn lanes
  • planting strips
  • lighting and landscaping
  • curb and gutter
  • storm drainage infrastructure
  • medians, signalization, and crosswalks

A thorough review and analysis of existing conditions compared to current and future land uses and transportation needs will be conducted.

Cost:  $4,700,000
Please note this is the funding amount and includes all costs associated with the project such as planning and design, acquiring the right of way, utility relocation, consultant fees, construction, signalization, permits and landscaping.  Additional funding may be identified after the planning phase.
