This project will build new sidewalk, curb and gutter, and minor storm drainage improvements in the York/Cama neighborhood.

What's happened? City Council awarded the planning contract to US Infrastructure  on May 14, 2007. The first public meeting was held on July 31, 2007. The September newsletter describes the first public meeting results. The  second public meeting was held on October 11, 2007. An update was mailed to residents in April 2008.  Click here to view the latest informational postcard. Construction, landscaping and street resurfacing are complete.

What's next? Construction, landscaping and resurfacing are complete. The construction and landscape projects are in the warranty phase.

A Neighborhood Improvement Project

In November 2006, voters approved $25,000,000 for neighborhood improvement projects including $3,000,000 for York/Cama. This project is bounded by I-77, Yancey Road, Heriot Avenue, Industry Road and Scaleybark Road. The neighborhood will receive improvements, such as curb and gutter, sidewalks with ADA  wheel chair ramps, planting strips and storm water drainage.


  • To improve the quality of life for the residents of the York/Cama neighborhood
  • To provide new sidewalks and planting strips for pedestrians to walk safely through their neighborhoods.

Cost:   $3,000,000
Please note this figure includes all costs associated with the project such as planning and design, acquiring the right of way, utility relocation, consultant fees, construction, signalization, permits and landscaping.
