Assistant City Manager Eric D. Campbell
|
As an Assistant City Manager for the City of Charlotte, Eric D. Campbell serves as the City Manager’s Office liaison with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police, Charlotte Fire Department, the Community Relations Committee, and Shared Services.
He also works with Council committees and boards, including the Community Safety and Restructuring Government Council committees.
Campbell joined the City of Charlotte in April 2008. |
He began his public service career in 1987 with the Office of Management and Budget, Arlington County, Virginia. He subsequently served as a budget analyst with the Commonwealth’s Department of Planning and Budget, Richmond, Virginia. He next served in the role of intergovernmental relations administrator with the City of Newport News, Virginia, later becoming a budget management analyst with Prince George’s County, Maryland, followed by director of business management, the Crater Youth Care Commission, Disputanta, Virginia, and finally deputy city manager, City of Portsmouth, Virginia. He comes to Charlotte from the City of Petersburg, Virginia, where he served as Assistant City Manager.
He received his master’s degree in Public Administration from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University and his bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Hampton University. He holds an advanced certificate in Public Policy Analysis from Old Dominion University and is a graduate of the Senior Executive Institute – Weldon Cooper Center for Public Service at the University of Virginia. Campbell has also completed a number of International City/County Management Association (ICMA) University workshops. In 2001, he received ICMA’s Workplace Diversity Scholarship.
Campbell is a member of ICMA and the Virginia Local Government Management Association. He served on the board of the Richmond Community Action Program and the Willcox Watershed Conservancy.
Campbell is a native of Richmond, Virginia and currently lives in Charlotte.
