Blue Line Extension Proposals

In 2009, 383 artists responded to a national call to artists to compete for an opportunity to integrate art into the LYNX Blue Line Extension.  The selected artists have worked through  consecutive design phases over the past four years, interacting with representatives of neighborhood community, members of the BLE project team, the Art-in-Transit Advisors, and CATS staff.  The artists have proposed art for retaining walls, bridges, elevator towers, plazas, park and ride lots, and stations starting at 9th Street in uptown Charlotte and extending to the campus of the University of North Carolina Charlotte.  The art will be fabricated in 2015 and 2016 and be part of the line opening in early 2017.
