In response to requests for traffic calming along Mecklenburg Avenue, the Charlotte Department of Transportation (CDOT), with input from neighbors, has developed a traffic calming concept plan for Mecklenburg Avenue between The Plaza and Fort Street.  Please see the concept plan which highlights the proposed features along with brief descriptions.
 
Prior to moving forward with the final project design, the CDOT requires a letter of endorsement from the Neighborhood Association.  The Association will mail notices of the proposed project to residents in the impact area.  Residents should provide comments to the Association representative, in support of or opposition to, the proposed traffic calming project.  If the Association votes to support the project, it will move forward into design.  The final design may differ from the concept based on site specific constraints, but the intent of the project will remain.
