Crime Statistical Summary for the Third Quarter of 2014: 

CMPD ended September, 2014, with a -2.2% decrease in Index Offenses compared to last year. Property crime decreased by -1.5% while violent crime decreased by -5.8%.

  • 32 homicides were reported compared to 37, resulting in a decrease of -13.5%.
     
  • 1171 robberies were reported compared to 1352, resulting in a decrease of -13.4%.
     
  • 189 rapes were reported compared to 211, resulting in a decrease of -10.4%.
     
  • 2299 aggravated assaults were reported compared to 2317, resulting in a decrease of -0.8%.
     
  • Burglary overall was down -11.8%, (4279 compared to 4851) with a decrease of -17.1% in residential (3166 compared to 3819) and an increase of 7.8% in commercial cases (1113 compared to 1032).
     
  • 1213 vehicle thefts were reported compared to 1388, resulting in a decrease of -12.6%.
     
  • Total larceny cases increased by 2.7% (16642 compared to 16197) with the larcenies from auto up by 5.8% (5898 compared to 5574).
     
  • 123 arson cases were reported compared to 166, resulting in a decrease of -25.9%.
