Crime Statistical Summary for March 2013: 
 

Through the end of March, the preliminary total for Index Offenses was -6.7% lower than this time last year.  Property crime decreased by -6.9% while violent crime decreased by -5.3%.

  • 8 homicides were reported through March compared to 12, resulting in a decrease of -33.3%.
     
  • 412 robberies were reported compared to 411, resulting in an increase of 0.2%.
     
  • 61 rapes were reported compared to 52, resulting in an increase of 17.3%.
     
  • 663 aggravated assaults were reported compared to 733, resulting in a decrease of -9.5%.
     
  • Burglary overall was down -16.2%, (1474 compared to 1759) with a decrease of -17.7% in residential (1170 compared to 1421) and a decrease of -10.1% in commercial cases (304 compared to 338).
     
  • 384 vehicle thefts were reported compared to 397, resulting in a decrease of -3.3%.
     
  • Total larceny cases decreased by -4.2% (5007 compared to 5226) with the larcenies from auto down by -11.3% (1692 compared to 1908).
     
  • 51 arson cases were reported compared to 45, resulting in an increase of 13.3%.
