Crime Statistical Summary for the Year to Date 2016:

CMPD ended June 2016, with a 17.5% increase in Index Offenses compared to last year.  Property crime increased by 16.7% while violent crime increased by 21.8%.

  • 25 homicides were reported compared to 27, resulting in a decrease of -7.4%.

  • 912 robberies were reported compared to 770, resulting in an increase of 18.4%.

  • 144 rapes were reported compared to 140, resulting in an increase of 2.9%.

  • 2080 aggravated assaults were reported compared to 1658, resulting in an increase of 25.5%.

  • Burglary overall was up 7.6%, (3173 compared to 2950) with an increase of 2.7% in residential (2316 compared to 2256) and an increase of 23.5% in commercial cases (857 compared to 694).

  • 1174 vehicle thefts were reported compared to 998, resulting in an increase of 17.6%.

  • Total larceny cases increased by 19.5% (12911 compared to 10804) with the larcenies from auto up by 50% (5418 compared to 3612).

  • 103 arson cases were reported compared to 123, resulting in a decrease of -16.3%.​

3 Year Averages
CMPD ended June​ 2016, 21.6% above the 3 year average in Index Offenses.  Property crime exceeded the three year average by 20.4% while violent crime exceeded it by 28.2%.
  • Homicides exceeded the three year average by 11.9%. 25 homicides were reported as of the end of June compared to the three year average of 22.3.

  • 912 robberies were reported compared to the three year average of 799.3; robbery exceeded the three year average by 14.1%.

  • 144 rapes were reported compared to the three year average of 137.3; rape exceeded the three year average by 4.9%.

  • 2080 aggravated assaults were reported compared to the three year average of 1506.3; aggravated assaults exceeded the three year average by 38.1%.

  • Burglary overall exceeded the three year average by 9.0% (3173 compared to 2911.3) with residential cases above the three year average by 2.7% (2316 compared to 2255.3) while commercial cases exceeded the three year average by 30.6% (857 compared to 656.0).

  • 1174 vehicle thefts were reported compared to the three year average of 862.3. Vehicle thefts exceeded the three year average by 36.1%.

  • Total larceny cases exceeded the three year average by 22.6% (12911 compared to 10534.7) with the larcenies from auto exceeding the average by 52.5% (5418 compared to 3553.7).

  • 103 arson cases were reported compared to the three year average of 106.3. Arson was under the three year average by -3.1%.​
