Westover Division Officers Arrest Armed Robbery Suspect

Westover Division officers with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department have arrested Ronnie Eugene Fewell, DOB: 02/14/1993, for his involvement in an armed robbery incident.
 
On Thursday, March 21, 2013, at approximately 6:00 p.m., patrol officers were dispatched to an armed robbery call for service at a home in the 1600 block of Dewberry Tr. The victim stated that she was at a gas station on Wilkinson Boulevard earlier in the day and was approached by the suspect, who claimed to be selling electronic equipment.  The victim told the suspect that she was interested in the items and allowed him to follow her back to her residence.
 
The victim allowed the suspect to enter her home so that she would have the opportunity to inspect the items for sale. A short time later, the suspect produced a pistol and removed the victim’s cash and cell phone. The suspect left the scene in a vehicle that was parked in front of the residence. 
 
Information and evidence gathered during the investigation identified Ronnie Eugene Fewell as the suspect involved in the robbery.  Fewell was arrested at his home a short time later and charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon and conspiracy to commit armed robbery with a dangerous weapon. Thorough field work coupled with a solid investigation by patrol officers were critical elements in this timely arrest.

Eastway Division Officers Arrest Breaking and Entering Suspect

Eastway Division officers with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department have arrested, Kyle Ray Holbert, DOB: 01/17/1989, for his involvement in a breaking and entering of a motor vehicle incident. 
 
On Saturday, March 23, 2013, at approximately 12:30 a.m., patrol officers were dispatched to a larceny from auto call for service in the 1200 block of Thomas Street.  A witness stated that he observed the suspect break into a vehicle in the area. Officers arrived at the location within minutes and immediately observed an individual matching the description of the suspect looking into parked vehicles.  The officers approached the individual before he ran from the officers.  Officers apprehended the individual after a brief foot pursuit.
 
The individual was later identified as Kyle Ray Holbert.  Information and evidence gathered during the investigation identified Holbert as the suspect involved in the earlier motor vehicle break-in. Holbert was arrested and charged with breaking and entering of a motor vehicle and resist public officer.
 
A rapid patrol response and an alert witness willing to call 911, were critical elements in the quick apprehension.  It enabled officers to arrest this suspect before he had an opportunity to prey on additional members of our community. Public's Assistance Requested to Identify Robbery Suspect




The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Armed Robbery Unit is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect pictured in the photographs above from an armed robbery of the Citgo Convenience Store, located at 6865 Albemarle Road.
 
On March 19, 2013, at approximately 1:35 a.m., a black male suspect armed with a handgun entered the Citgo Convenience store and demanded money from the cashier.  After obtaining the money, the suspect then fled the convenience store.  
 
The suspect is described as approximately 150-160 lbs., dreadlocks and a goatee and was wearing a dark gray hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, a white t-shirt underneath the hoodie and black shoes.

Steele Creek Division Officers Arrest Residential Breaking and Entering Suspects
          
Steele Creek Division officers with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department have arrested Rasheem Wanya Lemon, DOB: 09/30/1995 and Marcus Wayne Lurns, DOB: 11/26/1995, for their involvement in a residential breaking and entering case.
 
On Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at approximately 11:51 a.m., patrol officers were dispatched to the 100 block of Hilary Circle in reference to a residential breaking and entering call for service.  The victim advised that he received a phone call from his alarm company stating that there was an alarm activation at his residence.  When the victim pulled up at his residence he noticed two males take off running.  Officers from the Steele Creek Division arrived on scene and determined that the victim’s residence was broken into.  The officers noticed that the suspects had smashed the rear bedroom window to gain entry into the residence, but did not take any property because the alarm sounded.  The officers on scene broadcasted a description of the suspects that the victim saw run from his residence and a short time later were located with the assistance of the public who were giving officers the location of the suspects.  The victim was able to positively identify both suspects.  The suspects were then transported to the Steele Creek Division where they were interviewed by detectives regarding this breaking and entering case.
 
Upon completion of the interviews, Mr. Lemon and Mr. Lurns were charged with felony breaking and entering and then transported to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office.

N. Tryon Division Officers Arrest Armed Robbery Suspects

North Tryon Division officers with the charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department have arrested Odell Mychal Smallwood, DOB: 02/17/1982, and Jamal William Howard, DOB: 03/19/1983, for their involvement in an armed robbery case.
 
On Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at approximately 8:00 a.m., patrol officers were dispatched to a robbery in progress call for service at PLS Check Cashing, located at 4421 North Tryon Street. The victims (business employees) called 911 and stated they were just robbed at gunpoint. 
 
Officers immediately arrived at the location and observed an individual behind the business appearing to stuff a gun in his pocket.  The officer exited his vehicle and ordered the individual to the ground.  The individual ran and the officer chased him on foot before he was apprehended a short time later by responding officers.
 
The victims positively identified the suspect as one of the men involved in the robbery. The suspect was identified as Odell Mychal Smallwood.  Smallwood was arrested and charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, resisting public officer, possession of a firearm by a felon, and first degree kidnapping, related to moving the victims against their will at gunpoint inside the location.
 
Additionally, information and evidence gathered during the investigation identified Jamal William Howard as a suspect in the robbery.  Howard was arrested later at his place of employment and charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon, and kidnapping.
 
A rapid patrol response, excellent communication and solid field work enabled officers to arrest one of the suspects on the scene before he had the opportunity escape. Thorough investigative work was critical in apprehending the second suspect a short time later.

Central Division Officers Arrest Breaking and Entering Suspect

Central Division Officers with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department have arrested David Tabron Jr., DOB: 04/01/1958, for his involvement in a commercial breaking and entering case.
 
On Monday, March 4, 2013, at approximately 3:30 a.m., patrol officers were dispatched to a burglary alarm call for service at Nikko Restaurant, located at 325 Arlington Ave.  Officers arrived within minutes following the call for service and immediately observed the suspect in an alley behind the business holding several bottles of liquor belonging to the restaurant. During the field investigation, officers also discovered that the glass door of the business had been broken.
 
Information and evidence gathered during the investigation identified David Tabron Jr., as the suspect involved in the incident. Tabron was arrested and charged with breaking and entering, larceny, and possession of stolen property. Tabron has an extensive arrest history in Mecklenburg County.

Robbery Unit requesting assistance in 2012 robberies



The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department Armed Robbery Unit is again asking for the public’s assistance in identifying three suspects from armed robberies that occurred in January of 2012.   
 
On January 6, 2012, three black male suspects armed with a handgun robbed a female victim of her purse at an apartment complex in the University City Division (see report number 2012-0106-1812-01).  On January 8, 2012, these three suspects also robbed a male victim at gunpoint of his laptop and wallet from a North Division apartment complex (2012-0108-0040-00). 
 
The suspect vehicle is described as a silver or cream Mitsubishi Eclipse with a sunroof and spoiler on the back, possibly at 2003 model.  Please review the attached photographs of the suspects and suspect vehicle.

Detectives Request Assistance in Identifying Suspects



Robbery Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department are requesting assistance in identifying these suspects in an Armed Robbery.  On Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at approximately 1:08 a.m., the armed suspects approached the victim while she was in a parking deck located at 1000 Blythe Boulevard.  The suspects then demanded personal items from the victim.  The suspects fled the scene in an unknown direction.  The victim was not injured.
 
The first suspect is described as a black male, approximately 5’9”, thin build with dreadlocks and was last seen wearing dark colored sweatshirt and jeans.  The second suspect is described as a black male approximately 5’9”, thin build with dreadlocks and was last seen wearing a multi color jacket and tan pants.  The suspects left the scene in a vehicle which is believed to be an early 2000 model Jeep Grand Cherokee with aftermarket black rims and tires.

Central Division Officers Arrest Larceny Suspect

Central Division officers with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department have arrested Timothy Michael Kennedy, DOB: 05/22/1980, for his involvement in a breaking and entering of a motor vehicle case.
 
On Sunday, March 3, 2013, at approximately 4:30 a.m.,  plain clothes officers who were working a larceny from auto prevention operation in the area observed Kennedy unlawfully enter a window of a vehicle parked in the 1500 block of S. Church St.
 
Officers immediately approached and ordered Kennedy to exit the vehicle. Kennedy was taken into custody without incident.  He was charged with breaking and entering of a motor vehicle and possession of drug paraphernalia.  Excellent field work and observation enabled officers to apprehend the suspect before he had an opportunity to victimize another member of our community.
