Mayor's Efficient and Effective Government Review Task Force

Background
In December 2009, Mayor Anthony Foxx appointed the Efficient and Effective Government Review Task Force. The purpose of the Task Force is to evaluate the City budget for opportunities to improve efficiency, productivity, and cost effectiveness. Mayor Foxx appointed nine Task Force representatives from the private and public sectors who are knowledgeable about budgeting and finance. The Task Force is provided a year to complete its work.
Charge
The charge of the Task Force is two-fold:

To develop an understanding of the City's budget until Council adopts the FY2011 budget; the task force may offer suggestions during this period

Identify findings and options for efficiency and effectiveness improvements for implementation after FY2011 (beginning July 1, 2011)
Specific Assignments

Develop an understanding of structure, staffing, and operations of all stages of City government

Examine long-term sustainability in context of future revenues
-
Identify opportunities for improvements to programs/services that need to be changed (increased/decreased/eliminated)
