Charlotte, NC -- The City of Charlotte was notified Tuesday, August 3, 2009 by the Department of Energy (DOE) that it has been awarded $250,000, the first installment of Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant funds.

City staff is negotiating the contract with Camp, Dresser & McKee to begin work on the energy efficiency strategy. Federal requirements call for the strategy to be adopted and submitted to DOE within 120 days of the initial grant award.
