Charlotte, NC -- The City of Charlotte will observe the Independence Day holiday on Friday, July 3, 2009.  All City administrative offices will be closed.

Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) bus routes and the LYNX Blue Line will operate on a holiday service schedule on both Friday, July 3 and Saturday, July 4. Extra trips on the LYNX Blue Line will operate as warranted over the holiday weekend in support of Independence Day events.

Solid Waste Service will operate on a normal schedule during the holiday. Customers who normally receive collection on Friday will have no change in service. 

In addition, during the week of June 29, 7,400 new customers will begin receiving service from the Solid Waste Services crews, and 8,500 existing customers will have a change in their day of service. Newly annexed customers should have received information in the mail as well as the delivery of the City-issued container and recycle bin.
