Charlotte, NC -- Workshop opportunities will be offered by City of Charlotte Neighborhood Development Department's Community University during February. All workshops are free and open to Charlotte residents. To register, visit neighborhoods.charmeck.org and click on the CU icon or email neighservs@ci.charlotte.nc.us. All sessions will be held at the McCrorey YMCA, 3801 Beatties Ford Road from 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
Tuesday, February 3 Your Neighborhood Organization: Basics and Beyond
Discuss strategies to improve the functionality of neighborhood organizations, including roles and expectations, the structure and effectiveness of documents, and organizational stewardship.
Wednesday, February 11 Developing Our Future: Mobilizing Youth for Neighborhoods Explore best practices to recruit and sustain youth involvement in community and neighborhood projects,meetings, and activities.
Thursday, February 19 Technology Tools for Your Neighborhood Review helpful sites, tools, and resources for neighborhood organizations to stay technologically current while promoting their organizational vision and goals.
Tuesday, February 24 Fun with Neighborhood Fundraising Learn the basics of neighborhood fundraising, including types of fundraising, solicitation approaches and resources, and fundraising strategies.
Community University is a neighborhood capacity building program dedicated to providing high quality training to Charlotte residents to improve the strength and vitality of neighborhood organizations and the overall quality of community life. The courses are intended to engage, inform and equip participants with the training and assistance needed to help them improve and maintain their communities.
