Police Community Relations Awards Nominations

Charlotte, NC -- Nominations are being sought for the 30th Annual Police Community Relations Awards, which is sponsored by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Community Relations Committee. The award recognizes officers and work teams from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department who have made outstanding contributions to the improvement of police community relations in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg area.
Officers will be judged on their involvement in helping the community understand the police function and the citizen's role. Officers will also be considered if they have demonstrated extraordinary efforts in the area of crime prevention and their involvement in aiding neighborhoods in handling their special problems.
Nominations may be made by citizens in the patrol area, Charlotte-Mecklenburg School personnel or students, groups, and individuals. If you or your organization would like to nominate an officer, you may do so by requesting a nomination form or visit our website and complete a form on line. Deadline for submitting nominations for this year's consideration is Wednesday, April 1, 2009.
All nominations will be reviewed by a committee made up of members of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Community Relations Committee. Officers selected will be recognized at the awards ceremony which will be held in May 2009.
