Charlotte, NC -- All administrative offices of the City of Charlotte will be closed Monday, January 19 in observance of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday. The City's Community Relations Committee is in charge of the special events planned for the day, which include a parade, memorial service and performances.

City Solid Waste Services will also observe the holiday. There will be no collection provide on Monday, January 19. Residents who normally receive garbage, recycling and yard waste collection on Monday will receive that service on Tuesday, January 20. Service for the entire week will be shifted one day, with Friday customers receiving service on Saturday.

Buses and light rail operated by the Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) will operate on a Saturday schedule.

The Charlotte City Council zoning meeting, normally scheduled for the third Monday in the month, will be combined with the business meeting on Monday, January 26.
