CHARLOTTE - Utilities reports that significant progress has been made on the 54-inch water main. Utilities staff and contractors confirmed Saturday that the major water line could befixed from the inside, re-filled and sterilized.

Work will continue around the clock with cleaning, testing and flushing of the line expected through the middle of next week. As a result, customers and motorists between Queens and Wendover Roads may see occasional periods where water is flowing along the street along with traffic intermittently interrupted.

Today, we continue to communicate and enforce restrictions to promote conservation to prevent high usage and service challenges while the repair is underway.

Updates will continue to be shared with local news media and posted on the home page at www.cmutilities.com.
