May 19, 2008

Charlotte, NC -- Representatives from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), the National Community Reinvestment Coalition and HUD approved housing counseling agencies will participate in a unique forum to discuss fair lending requirements of the Federal Fair Housing Act, how to avoid predatory lending and foreclosures alternatives in the community.  The forum will take place on Saturday, May 31st  from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. at the Little Rock AME Zion Church, 401 North McDowell St., in Charlotte.

The purpose of the forum is to educate the general public, faith-based organizations and housing professionals of HUD resources and programs that can assist in eradicating unfair and discriminatory lending practices. The forum will also address issues related to foreclosure prevention and options that are available to homeowners facing foreclosures.

Attendees will be able to interact with local and national experts involved in enforcing fair lending laws, developing foreclosure prevention strategies, and operating government programs that help families remain in the homes they've worked so hard to obtain.
