CATS plans to seek $300 million for the North Corridor Commuter Rail project from the $1.5 million Discretionary Grant program. the remaining $100 million would be shared by the state, Charlotte, Huntersville, Cornelius, Davidson and Mooresville.
Requires a competitive grant application and has a maximum award of $300 million per state.
CATS will submit an application for the North Corridor Commuter Rail line. NCDOT plans to submit an application for the I-85 Yadkin River Bridge. Either project would utilize the maximum allowable funding for North Carolina.

At 28 man-years/$1 million invested, the project would generate 9.800 jobs.
Currently at 90% design; requires 30 months to complete. The law allows up to 3 years to complete awarded projects.
