Funds can be used to provide job search and placement assistance including career counseling; assessment of skills and needs, and training from eligible providers such as community colleges and universities.
The City will expand its programs with the JobLink Career Center to handle the increased volume of adult and dislocated workers and will contract directly with Central Piedmont Community College to assist in the delivery of job training services to citizens.
Adult: Low-income adults 18 years of age or older; and a US citizen or eligible to work in the US.
Dislocated workers: 18 years of age or older; and a US citizen or eligible to work in the US; and meet one of the following criteria:
- Unemployed due to a plant closure within the last 2 years (including pending closures)
- Unemployed due to a lay off within the past 2 years or received a notice of layoff, and is unlikely to return to his/her previous occupation,
- Self employed but business has failed
- Displaced homemaker
