Community Services

From collecting items for sick and shut-in seniors and visiting local elementary schools talking about public safety to escorting families for military funerals, the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office places a high value on community involvement.  Some of the community programs we participate in and support include:

  • NC Peace Officers’ Memorial Week and Police Unity Tour Community Services
  • Salute to Heroes Hockey Game
  • Explorer Post #224
  • Twilight 5K Walk/Run
  • Police Activities League
  • Communities in Schools
  • Elves for the Elderly
  • Operation Share Bear
  • Hometown Heroes & Annual Christmas Tree Lot
  • Keith Larson’s Ride for the Kids
  • Festivals, Parades, Neighborhood Gatherings

We offer the MCSO Citizens’ Academy every February and August for citizens to learn Community Servicesmore about how their tax dollars are spent.  The Reality Program introduces young people to the criminal justice system and educates them about the risks, consequences and long-term results of criminal behavior.  Many MCSO employees donate blood six times each year at our MCSO blood drives.

We believe in our mission/vision/guiding principles and we believe in our community.  For more information about a community service program, contact Officer Erik Hagesether at 704-336-3078.
