The short term meal service is intended to target Mecklenburg County senior adults 60 and over who become temporarily homebound and need meal service for a short period of time. If eligible, individuals can receive meal service for a maximum of 12 weeks.
Who Qualifies for this Service?
Individuals who need homebound meal service for less than 12 weeks because they are:
- Discharged from a medical facility and/or temporarily homebound by reason of illness or incapacitating disability
- They are physically impaired to shop/ prepare meals
- They have no responsible person to shop and prepare meals for them.
Note: This program is not for someone that needs meal service for an extended period of time. If someone needs this type of service they must contact Just1Call at 704-432-1111.
How to Apply?
Referrals for this program can be made by discharge planners, DSS employees, family, and friends. The customers in this program will start receiving service within 1-2 days after a home visit is done and assessment is completed.
