Commissioner Matthew Ridenhour, District 5, is serving his first term on the Mecklenburg Board of County Commissioners and in his first elected office. A native Charlottean, he is a former Marine serving two tours of duty in Iraq.

He is a Receivables Analyst and Credit Manager for Hartmann USA, Inc. He currently serves on the Executive Board of the Mecklenburg County Young Republicans and is a member of the Charlotte Junior Chamber. Commissioner Ridenhour previously ran for an at large Charlotte City Council seat in 2009.

He is a member of Sharon Presbyterian Church and lives in Charlotte with his wife and pet Dachshund, Badgely.
