About the Air Quality Commission
The Mecklenburg BOCC established the Mecklenburg County Air Quality Commission (AQC) on October 15, 2002. View the entire AQC Charter.
The mission and duty of the AQC
Promote the protection, preservation, and enhancement of the ambient air resources of Mecklenburg County, North Carolina.
The purpose of the AQC
Provide citizen and stakeholder input to the BOCC, local municipalities, and MCAQ staff through the review and recommendations of air pollution management policies, long range plans, operations, and their budgetary impacts in order to achieve this mission.
2014 Air Quality Commission Meetings
Members of the public are invited to attend AQC meetings to observe and provide comment. The Commission meets the 4th Monday of every month, usually in the Ed Woods Auditorium of the Hal Marshall County Services Center, 700 North Tryon Street, Charlotte, NC. Refer to agenda for specific times and location.

The Commission is comprised of twelve members. Appointments are made by the Mecklenburg Board of County Commissioners and are for three year terms.
