NOVA is state certified Batterer Intervention Program designed to provide educational information on how to change abusive behaviors toward intimate partners.
PROGRAM
Nova is a year long psycho-educational program divided into two phases. Phase One is comprised of 26 weekly group sessions. Upon successful completion of Phase One, participants transition into a mandatory Phase Two. Phase Two is comprised of 6 monthly aftercare group sessions. All group sessions are led by male and female co-facilitators based on the widely acknowledged Duluth and ADA Curriculums. Total number of sessions attended will be 32.
*Participants must attend an initial orientation session in order to become familiar with program rules and regulations prior to beginning Phase One.
Groups are held at 3623 Latrobe Drive, Suite 110.

Thursday 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM
6:00 PM to 8:00 PM
Saturday 10:00 AM to 12:00 NOON
There are also groups scheduled for female offenders and Spanish-only speaking clients.
ADMISSION
Candidates for admission must be court-ordered or referred by another agency or individual. No volunteers. Candidates must complete an assessment prior to admission into NOVA.
Assessments (usually lasting 45 minutes) are conducted by case coordinators at the NOVA office in the Post Judgment Center, in the Mecklenburg County Courts Building Room 4000.
Candidates may call to schedule an appointment Monday through Friday. Walk-ins are accepted based upon availablilty.
Candidates are screened for appropriateness, including acknowledgement of their role in domestic violence; mental health and substance abuse status and willingness to accept responsibility for their behavior.

Fees are due and payable at each scheduled session.
