Public Awareness March
These Domestic Violence Awareness Marches are held on the Thursday following a domestic violence related homicide at 12:15 PM. The Domestic Violence Advocacy Council (DVAC) sponsors these marches at Trade and Tryon Streets in Charlotte. The marches commemorate those who have lost their lives because of domestic violence.

|
The objectives of these marches include paying tribute to victims of domestic violence, emphasizing the scale of the problem of domestic abuse and its effects on the community, and galvanizing the community in the effort to reduce domestic violence through support of victims and intervention for batterers.

FREE "Lunch & Learn" workshops These free monthly seminars are open to the public and are held on the first Tuesday of each month from 12:30 PM until 1:30 PM. Representatives from local help agencies serve as presenters. The DVAC will continue to organize these workshops as an ongoing effort to broaden the public's awareness of the issues surrounding domestic violence.
|
Free parking for these sessions is available in the On-The-Green parking garage on South Tryon Street. The entrance is immediately north of the church (near First Street). Parking validations will be provided. A free trolley runs the length of Tryon Street every seven minutes, as well. Participants are encouraged to bring their lunch.
