PURPOSE AND/OR MISSION OF ASSOCIATION/ORGANIZATION/AGENCY:
To educate and train women in business, vocational, creative and personal arenas while providing work opportunities and economic development; to teach independence and self sufficiency in a place that honors diversity and multiculturalism; and to provide the tools to build and reaffirm self-confidence and self-worth.

MAJOR PLANNED PROGRAMS/PROJECTS/SERVICES:
  • Sojourner Learning Center to create training and employment opportunities for women n in areas such as: furniture refinishing and upholstery; appliance repair; auto repair; cashiering, merchandise sales, office and computer skills, crafts (quilting, pottery, furniture, painting, and creating environmental art from recycled items).
  • Processing Center to provide a central point where donated items can be dropped off, sorted and organized for distribution to those in need. The processing center we are seeking will also serve as a learning center with classroom space where new skills can be taught using donated items as teaching tools.
  • Elements Art, Thrift & gift Shop to offer quilts, craft items and works of art; refurbished appliances, household items, and furniture as well as donated clothing, The Thrift Shop will serve as a training center to teach new skills such as cashiering, sales, merchandising, organization and management, office and computer skills. Proceeds from thrift shop sales will be used to fund the day-today operations of the organization.
