PURPOSE AND/OR MISSION OF ASSOCIATION/ORGANIZATION/AGENCY:
The Shelter for Battered Women, a division of United Family Service, offers counseling, support and a safe haven for women and their children who are in danger of abuse form the woman's intimate partner. The Shelter provides women and children with information and resources to assist them in establishing a violence-free home. The Shelter works within agencies and with other local, state and national organizations for the day when domestic violence is no longer accepted or tolerated. The Shelter believes that violence is a totally unacceptable form of interaction, and is destructive to individuals, families and society.
