MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENT (S): Five members appointed by the Mecklenburg Board of County Commissioners, three appointed by the Mayor of Charlotte City Council, and two appointed by the Mayor.

PURPOSE AND/OR MISSION OF ASSOCIATION/ORGANIZATION/AGENCY:
Reports to Charlotte City Council and the Mecklenburg Board of County Commissioners on the progress made toward implementing the recommendations; to identify gaps, or the need for additional programs or services; to meet the needs of domestic violence victims and their children; to provide vigorous advocacy; and to increase community awareness and education as to the problems of domestic violence and its related cost to victims and the community. 

MAJOR PLANNED PROGRAMS/PROJECTS/SERVICES:

  • Up-to-date domestic violence reports and recommendations to government bodies
  • Review grant proposals for domestic violence monies
  • Continue to support a community wide focus on all issues related to domestic violence
