MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENT (S): To become a member: must be over age 23, have lived in Charlotte area for at least 1 year, be committed to volunteerism in our community and in being trained to be an effective volunteer; be sponsored by 2 members of the JLC. To maintain active membership; must satisfactorily attend membership and committee meetings, meet placement obligations, and fulfill financial obligations (annual dues and quota at the WearHouse, JL: Thrift Shop).

PURPOSE AND/OR MISSION OF ASSOCIATION/ORGANIZATION/AGENCY:
The Junior League of Charlotte is an organization of women committed to promoting volunteerism, to developing the potential of women and to improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable.

MAJOR PLANNED PROGRAMS/PROJECTS/SERVICES:
Three Focus Areas: Early childhood Education: A Child's Place, Neighborhood Resource Center, Reading with Mom Presbyterian Child Life, Big Shot Saturdays, Preschool Alliance, Thompson Child Development.

Adolescent Issues: Double Oaks, Conflict Resolution, Elon Homes, Hands-On-Charlotte, Project Hope, Best Friends, CIS Teen Mothers, The Relatives.

Family Preservation: Windows to Work, Habitat Partners, Habitat, Connecting Links, Partners in Hope, Charlotte Emergency Housing, VITA ABLE, and JL Players.
