The 2009 Homeless Veterans Stand Down helped 187 individuals, including 143 veterans and 44 civilians with food, clothing, health screenings, employment and housing assistance, mental health counseling, and veterans benefits information. More than 155 service providers, volunteers, sponsors and donors, and County staff worked to make the March 13 event a success for military veterans from Mecklenburg and surrounding counties who are homeless.
