Variance Forms

Variances may be granted for a limited time to water newly installed landscaping twice a week. The Utilities customer must apply in writing, using the prescribed form, and supply all the necessary information:

  • A variance request form is the only method available to process a variance request. Please do not telephone or send emails, it delays response time.
  • Documentation of landscape requirements for closing from the lender.
  • Documentation of the actual closing date
  • Request may be submitted no sooner than 10 days prior to closing on loan.
  • Request must be submitted by the property owner, not the builder or the landscaper.
  • Owner must have an established water account
  • IMPORTANT: You are not authorized to use water for restricted purposes unless your faxed hardcopy of the approved variance has been clearly posted at the watering site.
  • At this stage of restrictions, variances will not be extended beyond their original expiration date.

What does NOT qualify for a variance:
Aeration, seeding, and fertilization of existing lawns and other optional projects DO NOT qualify for a variance. To protect our regional drinking water supply, Utilities urges homeowners to delay these and other discretionary lawn projects until regular rainfall patterns return.

Variances are granted only to those customers with active water accounts. To expedite the evaluation process, please be sure you have set up a water account for new construction prior to submitting this form and include the account number where specified.
