McAlpine Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant
|
The largest of all Charlotte Mecklenburg Utilities wastewater treatment plants, the McAlpine Creek facility has a daily treatment capacity of 64 million gallons (though daily treatment averages much less than that).
At each of our five wastewater treatment plants, State-certified wastewater treatment plant operators work 24 hours a day, 365 days per year -- constantly sampling, measuring and testing the wastewater to ensure its safety.
Check out this wastewater plant's recent awards.

Over the last five years, McAlpine Creek WWTP added $47 million in improvements to reduce the amount of phosphorus found in treated wastewater that is discharged into McAlpine Creek. This will result in better water quality downstream of the plant.
The plant is also home to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Utilities Solids Residuals Facilities. This is where biosolids -- solid matter extracted during the treatment process -- are safely processed for recycling as fertilizer.
