Franklin Water Treatment Plant

Water from Mountain Island Lake is pumped from the Catawba River Pump Station to three reservoirs at Franklin Water Treatment Plant in North Charlotte. The raw water is then gravity-fed to both the Franklin facility and to Vest Water Treatment Plant.

Franklin Water Treatment Plant was built in 1959 and has since been upgraded five times due to population growth and technological advances that ensure continued delivery of the highest quality drinking water.

This aerial view of the Franklin Plant clearly shows the reservoirs at the plant, which are capable of storing 355 million gallons of water.
