Residential Customers With Irrigation Systems

When installing an irrigation system, residential customers in Charlotte-Mecklenburg are required to install and maintain a backflow prevention assembly on their water line to ensure the safety of the surrounding community.

  • Residential customers who are planning to install a backflow prevention assembly for their irrigation system must either be a licensed plumber in North Carolina or must obtain approval from Mecklenburg County. A plumbing permit is required for the backflow installation.
