Annexation Areas / Planning Information General Annexation Frequently Asked Questions
Residents who received water and sewer service from Charlotte-Mecklenburg Utilities prior to annexation will continue to do so. Residents that are currently using a well and / or septic system are not required to switch to city water and sewer services.

When an area is annexed, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Utilities installs fire protection and sewer service to the low point in the neighborhood. It usually takes two years to design and install the infrastructure from the date annexed.
Annexed areas will be contacted via letters during the design phase and before construction begins.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Utilities is hosting two public meetings for the Hood Road South Annexation Area at Reedy Creek Elementary School located at 10801 Plaza Road Extension.
Tuesday, August 11, 2009 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. – For residents currently on individual wells and septic systems. Thursday, August 13, 2009 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. – For residents currently served by a private water / wastewater system like Aqua NC or Carolina Water.
Public meetings for Hood Road North Annexation Area had public meetings on July 14 and 16 to go over current design. More information will be provided late fall 2009.
Hood Road areas requires large sewer pipes to be installed to serve the area. This project is called Reedy / McKee Creeks Interceptor Project.
