Most on-street spaces are metered using traditional parking meters; however, don't be surprised to find pay stations in high demand areas as we are in the process of upgrading the equipment.
Meter Rates
Parking meters accept quarters, dimes, nickels and the Charlotte coin.
Rates for meters are a quarter ($.25 cents) for each 15 minutes, and the Charlotte coin provides one hour of parking.
Most on-street spaces allow a purchase of a maximum of 2 hours of parking.
Hours of Enforcement
Meters are monitored from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. Parking at night or on weekends is free unless temporary restrictions are in place. Most meters have rush hour parking restrictions from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and/or 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Vehicles will be towed if parked on restricted streets during these times.
Weekend, Special Event Enforcement and Night
Park It! agents enforce parking rules in the Center City area on weekends and during special events.
Broken Parking Meters
If you have parked at a parking meter that is broken, please call 704-375-3177 or complete an online form. Make sure you have the name of the street where the meter is located and the meter number.
