Park! Center City Wins Award of Excellence
(September 2002)

The Park It! Park! Center City program won an Award of Excellence (third-place) in the Best Marketing Plans/Campaigns category in the City-County Communications and Marketing Association's 2002 Savvy Awards Competition.

The Savvy Awards recognize outstanding local government achievements in communications, public sector marketing, and citizen-government relationships. The Savvies salute skilled and effective city/county/agency professionals who have creatively planned and carried out successful innovations.

Park It! Wins IABC Award
(May 2002)

The eighth annual International Association of Business Communicators/Charlotte Crown Awards ceremony was held on Wednesday, May 8, 2002, at the Mint Museum of Charlotte. IABC/Charlotte presented 20 Gold and 24 Silver Quill Awards, as well as its Volunteer of the Year award.

The IABC/Charlotte Crown Awards Program recognizes outstanding achievement in business and organizational communication, and educates our profession about the standards and processes needed to produce excellent work.

Best of Show went to the "Park It! Onstreet Parking Program" City of Charlotte, Department of Transportation submitted by Clement Gibson, Special Projects Manger.


Park It! Wins IPI Award
(May 2000)

The City of Charlotte Park It! Onstreet Parking Program was presented an Award of Excellence for its Park! Center City parking validation program in the International Parking Institute's (IPI) 2000 International Parking Awards competition. Representatives from the City of Charlotte Department of Transportation and Park It's management company, Central Parking System, received the Award of Excellence at the 2000 IPI Convention in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. on May 23. 

The competition consists of four categories. The Award of Excellence is the highest recognition offered in each category. The Park! Center City program won in the "Innovation in a parking program or operation" category. 

The Park! Center City parking validation program makes it more convenient and less expensive to visit Charlotte's Center City. When patrons visit Center City businesses displaying the Park! Center City symbol, they receive a Charlotte Coin. The universal $1 coin is accepted in the city's onstreet parking meters; at more than 20 parking garages in the Center City area; and, on local Charlotte Transit routes and the Charlotte Trolley.
