Key Elements of Traffic Plan

The Traffic Management Team consisting of the City of Charlotte Department of Transportation (CDOT), the North Carolina State Highway Patrol (NCSHP), the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department and the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) are responsible for Ericsson Stadium game day traffic control. Key items to be aware of are:

  • The NCSHP will be directing traffic at several intersections in Uptown Charlotte.
  • Streets in the vicinity of the stadium will be closed to vehicles approximately two hours before kick-off and one hour after the end of the game. Please plan your trip accordingly.
  • First Street between Mint and Tryon streets will be closed to vehicles. Use of this game day pedestrian corridor will give you good access to and from the stadium.
  • After the game Mint Street from 2nd Street to Trade Street and 2nd Street from Mint Street to Church Street will be reversed for approximately one hour.
  • Interstate variable message signs will be in operation to inform motorists of game day traffic concerns. Please take time to read the messages if you are traveling the interstates. Local radio stations broadcast traffic updates on game days.
  • If you have reserved parking, display your parking permit from your rear-view mirror to access checkpoints quickly.
  • Congestion can be expected on the following streets:
  • Morehead Street between I-77 Ramps and Euclid Avenue
  • Stonewall Street between Brevard and Church streets
  • Church Street between Morehead and 6th streets
  • Graham Street between 2nd and 6th streets
  • I-77 and I-85 Interchange
  • I-77 and 5th Street Ramp
