Changes to Sedimentation & Erosion Control Ordinances

Mecklenburg County amended its Soil Erosion and Sedimentation Control Ordinance on October 7. The City of Charlotte approved revisions to its Ordinance on October 27.

Key changes:

  • Additional measures to protect local streams, rivers, lakes, and wetlands
  • Requires that persons responsible for monitoring erosion and sedimentation control at construction sites be certified
  • Corrective action to begin within 24 hours after rain event or inspection
  • Modifications necessary to comply with new State requirements.
